Steven Keith is a freelance food writer and restaurant critic for the Charleston Gazette-Mail newspaper, where his weekly column “The Food Guy” has won top honors from the West Virginia Press Association as the best lifestyles/feature column in the state. His work has also been published in Bon Appetit, Food Network, Fodor’s and a variety of regional culinary publications.
Although he used to enter lots of cooking contests, he soon learned it’s much more fun to judge them and now serves as a regular judge and emcee at food events around the state. When he's not out finding the latest and greatest restaurant, he loves cooking up his own recipes at home.
Steven grew up near Huntington, West Virginia, and graduated cum laude in 1991 with a degree in journalism from Marshall University, where he was named a Distinguished Alumni in 2000. Also a 2018 graduate of Leadership West Virginia, he now resides in Charleston with his wife (Dr. Amy Keith, co-owner of Valley West Veterinary Hospital) and sons Adam, Isaac and Ryan.
